School of Music Auditions-Graduate

An audition and/or interview is required for admission consideration of all graduate music degrees. You are encouraged to audition as early as possible for full scholarship consideration.

Preparing your Graduate School Application

  1. Apply to the Graduate College. The application to the Graduate College involves:
    • Completing an application form (including fee) through ApplyTexas.
    • Activating your NetID
    • Submitting the following documents:
      • Official transcripts of your undergraduate degree(s)
      • English Proficiency (TOEFL) for international students
      • Statement of Purpose
      • Résumé
      • Three (3) letters of recommendation
      • International students visit the Graduate College's International Student Information page for detailed information regarding additional requirements.
  2. Schedule and prepare for an audition/interview by following the instructions below.
    • The area coordinator or applied lesson instructor on your instrument can assist you with any questions you have regarding your performance audition.
    • Dr. Alton Corley, Coordinator of Graduate Studies in Music will assist you in scheduling your interview.

Preparing for a Graduate Interview/Audition

  • Submit the Graduate Audition/Interview Application Request.
    • If you are applying for the NEW M.M. Music - Performance and Pedagogy degree, select the M.M. Music - Performance degree on the application and in the comments section, indicate your desire to be considered for the Performance and Pedagogy concentration.

Audition Day Schedule and Information

  • 8:00am: Check-in (those who check-in first, audition first)
  • 9:15am: Auditions/Interviews begin

NOTE: Live interviews/auditions are preferred, however, prospective music students who are unable to audition in person due to geographic distance from campus (ex. out-of-state/international) may attach a recorded audition that represents your best performing abilities to your Audition Request Form above (under the media tab).
